An Introduction to Family Violence: Empowering participants to recognize and effectively respond to family violence in their workplace and communities

This workshop is ideal for health care and medical service providers or front-line agency staff who want to better understand the basics of family violence, or would like a refresher.

Topics Include

• types of abuse and cycle of violence

• power dynamics and coercive control tactics

• medication control and abuse, reproductive abuse, pregnancy risks, brain injury, and charting for safety planning

• family violence stereotypes and misconceptions

• barriers to leaving or accessing supports

• effective responses to family violence

A tour of our centre is offered after the training to anyone who wishes to participate!
