This participatory workshop builds on our core curriculum, incorporating information on the unique health issues, impacts and risks experienced within family violence.
Topics Include:
Types of domestic abuse and the cycle of violence
Power dynamics and coercive control tactics
Brain injury, medication control and abuse, reproductive abuse, pregnancy risks
Family violence stereotypes and misconceptions
Effective responses to family violence
Barriers to leaving or accessing supports
Charting for safety planning
This workshop is ideal for health care and medical service providers, or front-line agency staff who want to better understand these aspects of family violence and would like a refresher beyond the basics. Aiding in recognizing the need for support and referral to medical front-line or non-clinical healthcare staff.
